In my experience, Vintage Faith has been a place teaching the gospel and trying to help broken people. The mission of the church is to bring people "near to God," whatever that may look like. The people are loving and the church growing. Something must be being done right there.

This is a great church with encouraging and uplifting praise and worship music every Sunday by the Vintage Faith worship team along with a great message the Pastors give from the bible that always applies to daily living and how to have the right kind of relationship with God and others. They also have fellowship meals once a month. This church strives to help each other and to help and reach others in the community. They offer childcare during services for the little ones with fun activities and bible teachings that are age appropriate. They have an outstanding youth group program that meets every Friday night for kids seventh-twelfth grade. There are community groups that meet to study the word and fellowship with each other in various homes throughout the week.

I don't attend this church anymore, but I used to—for five years. I made friends there. Of all the churches I've attended, the whole aspect of community was never stronger anywhere else. At one point I was hanging out with people there 4 days a week.
I started questioning my beliefs, and in one of the community groups that was part of the church I posed my questions and doubts. There was no shunning. No one stopped me from questioning.
From time to time I had personal problems with other members. I settled it with all of them by talking it through, and not telling the entire world via Google about the specifics.
The church is young. They recently merged with an old Baptist church in which the pastor was planning on retiring. The merged saved the church building, and Vintage Faith gained the ability to worship in their own building instead of renting out a community center every Sunday morning. Upon merging, the church went through a few changes to be legally considered a church by the state of New York, not a cult. Previously the church was considered a sister church of another larger church, Eastern Hills, which is also not a cult.
The only real reason I don't go anymore is a difference of beliefs.Added December 04, 2016 by Philip Stephens - ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This church engages in spiritual abuse. The pastor has zero accountability, and surrounds himself with yes men. Anyone who questions him is put out, and shunned. My family was slandered and others were told not to speak to us b/c we would "gossip", which meant, tell the truth. We had spoken to no one prior to that of our experiences and trials, in spite of the vicious and ungodly and cowardly behavior of "leadership", and the pastor in particular. He says the right things publicly, but when it's time to make actions match words, he is a very, very different man and the love of Christ is not in him.
Most recently, they staged a 'takeover' of another church in order to acquire property & a building. The 'church' was originally premised on owning no property and being part of no denomination. This was stated often and repeatedly. But members were asked to join a baptist denomination in order to have more voting members than the small church they were sharing space with in order to effect a merger, and then take control.
There is no financial transparency either. I know of an instance where a local donor had pledged an amount specifically for the the salary of an additional staff person. That staffer never saw any of it b/c the lead pastor told him he didn't need a salary, and then proceeded to keep that pledged amount for himself.
I have heard from many who have left similar stories of abuse, corruption and ungodly behavior.
When describing my experience there to an older, very respected, and very Godly couple, they expressed shock and asked if the pastor was forming a cult. Having had time to process the horror, trauma and hurt that came from our time there, I do believe that "cult" is a term that appropriately fits.Added November 15, 2016 by KR Taylor
